Dosage Azithromycin 500mg
Always use the correct dose as prescribed by your doctor. Usually, a 500 mg dose is recommended on the first day for adults with a lung or skin infection. In addition, a 250 mg tablet is prescribed for an additional 4 days to be taken at the same time.
A single (250 mg x 4 tablets) or double dose (250 mg x 8 tablets) of Azithromycin is used to treat different types of bacteria. Approximately 1200 mg of azithromycin is used in the prevention of Mycobacterium Avum Complex (MAC) infections.
The dosage given to children varies according to age and weight.
Consumption of Azithromycin 500
There is no specific rule whether this antibiotic should be taken with food or without food, but the stomach may be irritated in some cases when it is advisable to consume the antibiotic along with food. The medicine works best when it is absorbed even in time intervals such as taking it at the same time every day. It is very important to continue the medicine for the number of days prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms have reduced or disappear. Stopping the medication before completing the duration of the course could aggravate the condition as there are chances of bacteria continuing to grow again.
